With "Ganeshana Maduve" (1990) and "Gauri Ganesha" (1991) making the audience rolling over with laughter and achieving unprecedented success, many thought "Ganesha Subrahmaya" (1992) would offer a similar content. However, this film ought to be classifed as a "drama" rather than a "comedy" that tells us not to paint all men and women with the same brush, as the the character "Vasantha" advises Ganesha (Anant Nag) towards the end of the film.
All the main characters - Anant Nag, Ramesh Bhat, Bank Janardan, Mukhyamantri Chandru, debuting actresses Manasa (real name Shobha), Sujata Krishnan and Chandrika have acted their parts very well, but Manasa steals the show with her softening-up act on Ganesha.
V. Manohar has composed five songs of which "Hendatiyobbalu maneyolagiddare", "O Kusuma Baale" and "Brahmachari" are memorable.
Since this film was released in the pre-Internet age, the box-office fate of this film is not known. If the audience just treat this film as a drama rather than comedy, the film would have met their expectations.
