I've always loved Disney movies but never been a huge fan of The Little Mermaid so I didn't have many expectations when I went into the theatre last night.
I was blown away by the wonderful visuals. Ariel has never been a very inspiring character to me and I wasn't a huge fan of Eric either - Jonah gives Eric character and brings him to life, I was so glad they decided to make him British. Likewise Halle did a wonderful job portraying Ariel and her acting, especially during the portion of the movie where she couldn't speak, were wonderfully done.
Can we talk about Eric's song???? As lovely as the other songs were this one was the best in my opinion. When it first began I was worried it was going to be terribly cheesy but it was perfect (it may or not be in repeat in my car) I cannot stress enough how good of a job Jonah did with this character.
I was disappointed with the dresses chosen for Ariel, I think they could have been much better, not impressed with the casting for Ariel's Dad but that's just my own personal issue haha.
Otherwise this was a wonderful movie. As someone who doesn't like the animated version I'm surprised I loved this.
