Peck was excellent in this just about ok western. Joan Collins weird and not so good. Strange film. The bad guys were believable. Lee Van Cliff in many such roles before becoming a star. Absurd bits. Like the massive boys choir in some grand cathedral in a small village in the middle of nowhere. Singing as if the Vatican choir. A village of neurotic inhabitants. The 4 baddies due to hang escape and the film is then basically a posse chase. A man understandably obsessed on revenge due to his wife being raped and murdered. A film with a simple morality point. He was chasing the wrong killers. Killed them bar 1 as they deserved it anyway. Then to see where woke comes from, the 1 non white Mexican baddie gets reprieved at the end and is suddenly portrayed as a good guy. Watchable but ordinary and a tad left field.

Strong western. Morality tale. Randolp Scott the flawed jealous hero. More realistic than most heroes in westerns. And the bad guy was realistic too being simply a successful businessman with power and a womaniser. The fine line between bad and good, heroes and villains is on show in this entertaining, yet with serious undertones, classic film of this genre. Rockfords dad plays the side kick to Scott well and the slow moving story keeps you interested. No grand ending just a taste of the harshness of life and love. Good film.

Crazy fun and drama from Korea. They seem to love this genre and do it rather well. O.T.T maybe but gripping at times, funny, silly, sad. Never boring. The idea of the power dogs being conditioned for terrorist hunts was believable. The car pile up in the fog a bit unlikely maybe. Variety of eccentric screaming characters and the cliché teen girl bossing serious divorced dad, who is in the security side of the government, a predictable norm now in much cinema. Not convincing really but quite good and many will enjoy this romp. Glad E9 survived the drop and the abuse from humans.

Naomi Scott did her best to pull this gore fest from rubbish to watchable. She just succeeded but no better than that really. No shocks. All too predictable now. Not very subtle. Too long. Quite funny inadvertently at times. Ending spoilt the best part of the film as the brother of a victim of the evil smiling entity had the clever idea of killing Skye, then bringing her back to life soon after. Hopefully vanguishing the evil entity. Sounded a long shot but I was hoping he'd succeed. Then the excitable producers spoilt this by bringing in the usual ridiculous monster and an incomprehensible bloody muddled ending. Left you blank and bemused. Slightly better than the poor The Substance. Some similarities. Same people involved? Ok-ish but some distance from being a classic.

Pretty run of the mill gangster hit man stuff for the first half. Tad muddled and bodies all over the place. Then it improved with a romantic angle. Which is rare. The taxidermist was believable and rather watchable. Also Caan in his last film (I guess) made it all a bit poignant. And Pierce Brosman with an American accent wasn't bad. Grew on you. The dream of Tuscany made for a good ending to a fair attempt at this genre of oft repeated story telling. Not that good but left me with a happy feeling of optimism. Light escapism well made.

Another Zombie fest. How they churn out these films and TV series is ridiculous and never ending. The cat made it 2 stars from the usual 1 star trash. Main actor not bad either and nasty Ukrainians a slight twist. Otherwise just nonsense for air heads. Lots of them about. As the world collapses in real time most don't see this but just watch endless films portraying it whilst fattening up on fast food and cheap booze or pop. Or is that snobbish? Probably! To be honest I enjoyed this in an excapist way. To escape the reality of WW3 becoming a real possibility. So perhaps I'm a bit too critical of fans of this genre but it's not a great film. Watchable though.

What a beautiful optimistic lovely animated film. Quite individualistic and mesmerising. Full marks for pure joyful entertainment. I love animals and nature, specially cats. This was a tribute to all of them and more. No dialogue bar for the animals struggling to survive the flood in a mystical land. Flow's character came across distinctly and the brilliant producers and artists got this one right. In the current negative and fragmented world this 90 minutes of pure escapism is just the prescription. Not to be missed by children, adults and animals. A wonder. Excuse the superlatives. I'm existentially blown away.

Realistic gritty true story from Norway. Well acted and produced. Not great or classic but solid and watchable throughout. The drama was real. The crew discipline fell apart from the stress and danger as they were attacked after being cut off from the convoy. This was understandable and must have been an event that occured a few times in the chaos of these convoys. You have to admire the crews on merchant ships who went through hell with many killed or injured in this vital role of supplying the armed forces and desperate civilians. This film puts you in the middle of an example of this rather well. Selfless times from a long gone era. Strong 3 stars.

A classic. As with all of Tarkovsky no humour and lots of serious faces. But contemplative wonderful cinema or sculpting in time. You can find meaning or depth if you wish but as a straight forward sci fi film it achieves plenty. Slow burner but not boring. The tragic beautiful Hari. The poignancy of lost or impossible love. The futility of life. The concept that the planet or substance of gases below the space station is an intelligent unit and brings about life forms from the astronauts minds has been done before but not quite in such a profound a way as in this film. Perhaps this is what we are. From an advanced life forms mind. A planet or solar system like Solaris. A black hole. Dark matter. Something beyond our comprehension. A God?! A genius at work. The immortal Tarkovsky.

Self indulgent film with self indulgent characters. Very North London champagne socialist types. Bancroft plays her role well but I had little sympathy for her. Pinter usually writes excellent left field individualistic scripts. Like Accident but this one fails. Finch acts well but again is a slightly self centered unlikeable character. Many good films of this type in the 60's but this one is not one of them. A certain realism perhaps but not a particularly interesting one. Quickly forgotten.
