The overall was a bit predictable a little too early for me, but kept me watching. Hayek was good at maintaining a believable parallel within both realities (reminded me of someone I used to know). Owen was Owen as usual... His reactions to implausible situations are always brilliant. Not bad for a late night bought of insomnia on a Friday morning.

Powerful in it's sobering message of how helpless we are to save people from themselves... The Charles Bukowski poem gives insight to the boy's apprehension to life as he reads from it early on. This movie is a cinematic representation of that struggle. Very clever. The scene where Carell tries to gain insight in some way to his sons downfall by imbibing himself, is an example of that straight man humor that he does so very well... and a welcome break from the heart break stuff that he also does so very well.
