I found this to be deeply cringe-inducing. The characters are cliched and stereotypical and some of the dialogue is laughable - one of the jurors mentions French theorist and critic Roland Barthes’1967 essay ‘The Death of the Author’ with a throwaway line that’s clearly just the writer showing off. The discussions about art and the character of the gallery owner are painful in the extreme and the accused’s severe hairstyle, makeup and clothing make her look like a member of Split Enz, which is possibly punishment enough.
