This is an excellent series it gradually develops as it introduces you to a range of characters and their very different locations and individual situations. We learn of the invasion through their eyes in real time so the gravity of the situation slowly becomes apparent. There is genuine tension especially the episode that just features Golshifteh Farahani and her family, I felt empathy and a real sense of jeopardy. And yes eventually we do get aliens and these are exactly as aliens should be - nothing like anything on Earth. Fantastic effects, amazing locations, brilliant acting and a good script - highly recommended.
