Fantastic evocation of the shallow ideals held by some people in the eighties. But the film is more than just about one man’s charade then final salvation, it’s the impact of his obsession with money on his friends and family. Jude Law is superb but it is Carrie Coon that stands out with a sublime performance throughout the whole film. The direction and photography combine to create a tension that lasts the entire duration of the film and will have you reflecting on the movie well after the final credits. An amazing film that is still relevant today.
