The first half of the book had me hooked. It felt like it was headed somewhere between Percy Jackson and Iron Widow, and I was SO into it. Britta is charming, White Hands is very interesting. Unfortunately, things dropped off and kept getting worse. Intriguing mysteries either had anticlimactic or confusing answers. The protagonist has essentially no motivation and just goes where she's pushed, does what she's told. She's so "special" and powerful, but none of it feels earned to me. Ixa's very existence is the epitome of unearned and unnecessary.
It's not a bad book, but it's littered with plotholes. I'm sorry to say I won't be reading the sequel.
