After watching the SPARKS documentary I had to rewatch Annette. That backstory of the Mael Brothers made me appreciate the Allegory of Annette even more. It’s probably not going to be appreciated for it’s brilliance in the US but it looks like Sparks never were quite as recognized for their prolific works of art in the first place. This film deserves more attention for the beauty of the music. Yes the marionette is a bit creepy and very European, however, Adam Drivers acting makes it so hard to take your eyes away as he commands the screen with a well crafted character arch. You will love him hate him and Pity him tragic flaws and all.
