James, is what call a “smart” book. It requires you to think about what the characters are experiencing and causes you do some evaluation of your beliefs.
Excellent book.
Also, read Trees. It was too much for me. I did not enjoy it at all. Yes, we’re all against lynching, but there were a too many ( both in the book and in history ). Too gruesome.
