I recently watched "Suzume no Tojimari" (Suzume) on Netflix and although it was sort of the film I had been waiting for, I stumbled upon this masterpiece.
The animation style is that of "Anohi mita hana no namae wo bokutachi wa mada shiranai" (Anohana) and the story is very rich and well written. The underlying theme of "moving forward" was incredible.
If this isn't well known here in the U.S., it certainly should be. It ranks in my top 10 for sure. A lot of the haters of this movie, I feel, didn't grasp it from the deeply-emotional Japanese story tellers' point of view. Japanese is incredibly poetic and there are idiomatic nuances that make this film so beautiful.
