This is definitely a book that you have to do a deeper analysis on to really get the symbolism behind it. If you just think of it as a "boring book about a kid breaking his leg," then you're just skimming the surface. This is really an interesting story about the one-sided rivalry between two friends; one who is a purely genuine person and one whose jealousy overtakes him, leading him to be a toxic person. Knowing the WW II allusions also helps in understanding the book better. Knowing a bit of basic French will make it funnier as well. There are a few slow chapters, (mainly due to Finny not being present) but the book has it's rollercoaster moments where you either feel like you're going to cry or have a good laugh. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would recommend it to someone who is willing to look deeper than the surface of the words.
