I was waiting for this movie since the first trailer came out. I did sense that this was going to be a good horror movie. The entire movie had a great style and I loved the sound design. My only complaint on the movie is the lack of depth for the wendigo. The cast was great and was genuinely attached to them throughout the movie. The setting was pivotal and I loved the shots of the mountains and trees, which gave me a feeling of dread for the night.
Horror wise this was an intense and very raw movie. The movie did not hold back and just takes you for a sinister ride. The movie built more on the intensity rather than being full of quick jump scares. There were a few which do not fail at making you jump, and you'll count them coming out of the theatre.
Now I'm heading into spoiler territory.
Spoilers. Spoilers
The ending does notion to the fact of another film being introduced, and dare I say a trilogy. This franchise could end up as a hit, but that's my gripe. If the sequel doesn't happen then we are left to assume that Paul dies, and his sister Julia, finishes off the spirit.
