I expected it to be a good film, I had heard such great things about it before I watched it…but I didn’t know it would be this AMAZING
I love how the story was told through the cinematography, rather than through dialogue. Every shot was gorgeous and aesthetic without trying too hard.
Despite the graphic aspects I found the story to be subtle yet consistent in showing a dark side of India’s culture, politics and religion to carry the plot through out the film; rather than these big themes talking over the personal story of Dev Patel’s character. The focus was on his story rather than trying to represent India. I liked the fact that the film showed the scenery, landscapes of the city as something that just IS. It wasn’t the colourful, musical side that is often typically depicted in western perspective of Indian culture.
Also the MUSIC WAS ON POINT! Love the whole soundtrack…everything fit and flowed so well!
