I don't know what happened. It was not bad the first 70%, then the script and even some of the acting took a major dive. Almost as if they were running out of money or changed writers. The ending was terrible ~ empty. Plot twist, despite Indira Varma strong performance felt very rushed, i.e. we need to end the film soon so 'insert plot-twist' (and unbelievable, since they had the step mother's password). This could have been so much better. The dynamic was there: the body guard with strong military skills, mostly believable; the kid schooled in multiple languages set up an interdependent relationship. Much more interesting than the one helpless character dependent on one strong character. Anyway... still an interesting film till 70% through

A mixed bag. On one side a captivating story, although a stereotype plot line; nothing was unexpected. The main actors felt stiff, matching the android, more like a B-grade movie made for TV, rather than cinema release. The main plus of the film was M3gan: the push for autonomy and the shift from caregiver to murderer; although again, since EVERYTHING was foreshadowed, M3gan's murder spree was anticipate from the first prototype in the laboratory, struggling to take of the synthetic skin. Fantastic! I put off watching this series for a long time with the fear Douglas Adam's work would have been destroyed in its translation to film, but I was utterly wrong. Rather than a direct copy of the novels, the TV series has taken its own path. Great plot-line. I particularly liked season 2. Strong and diverse characters. Amazing cast. Each character was dynamic. A great pity there were not more seasons produced. The novelty of each season and the well established interrelationships between characters, left me wanting more from the Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

Season 1 and 2 were fantastic: great dialogue, strong character development. But season 3, I'm struggling to get through. Russians set up a science base in the middle of North America ~ ridiculous. A heartrate monitor shows a huge spike and NO-ONE comes, no way; this would be grounds for legal action. The light would flash at the nurses' station and a nurse would come immediately. I don't know what happened but season 3 is flat, tried and forced. It is so contrived, so cliched, it is difficult to become immersed in the story line. I only hope season 4 is better.
