It's about Zatoichi - a wondering blind sword practitioner that's hired by a Yakuza gang to go help fight against its rival Yakuza gang. the story follows Zatoichi as he makes friends with the gang members and their relatives, and even to the hired samurai of the rival gang. The film is pretty much a mundane story of the rising tentions of some members of rival gang being beaten, murdered, and manipulated to make the other gang lose, and Zatoichi is the lone observer of all this shenanigans and puts up with the conflict. this film is more or less an episode in the life of the Blind samurai, as it is one of many several films that i haven't watched but have yet to see that gives a striking confident disabled protagonist who's character is definitely one of the most unique in all of cinema akin to that of Clint Eastwood's Blonde character. an icon warrior figure and definitely a well written character that doesn't let his disability be his disadvantage. A very crucial watch for modern day film goers and writers, especially those that look for minority representations in film executed well and have deep character into them. A solid episodic film in the life of a recurring character in Japanese cinema and i can't wait to watch more films with this character again.
