Go see this movie! Keep in mind, this was not a 5-star movie (But i gotta counterbalance all the 1 star people who let 1 thing ruin an entire movie). But my wife and I grew up loving the original, she was 7 when the animated classic came out and kick-started the "golden age" of Disney. This movie was really well done and does not take away anything from thr cartoon. Some of the cgi wasn't the best. And the scuttlebutt song was a little weird, but didn't throw the mood of thr film for me. Everyone did a fantastic job acting! Eric's song was really good, and the placement of the story being more in the carribean was genius. Halle did so good in her portrayal and her voice was on point! I liked some of the story changes including how Ariel tells Eric her name on the lagoon using the constellation. And they do a good job with building a relationship that was easy to follow.

This wasn't really a 5-star movie. There was not a WOW factor. But it has all the elements of a good and classic movie. I loved that they had representation without making it an issue, it never comes up as a character trait throughout the film. Tootles was down syndrome Lost Boy who they didn't try to Market off of in the trailer, but who everyone listened to his character and respected and he is reason enough to watch and enjoy this movie. I have seen a lot of people compare this to the 2003 Peter Pan and say that was more Disney. That movie was already made however and I appreciated the new aspect of the story with more focus on Wendy not needing Peter to save her, but not losing her femininity either. Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys were great! And Tiger Lily and her tribe were so well cast. (Something not well done in the 2003 version.) The story of Hook and Peter's relationship is very flushed out and the actors do a good job telling the story. All in all this is a decent and well made movie, and I will be watching it again.

Absolutely charming! I love the 1964 version and was in love with this movie from the orchestrated overture and through all the fantastic musical numbers! It felt like an golden age musical with all the modern day tech. This is a movie for kids of ALL ages. With important lessons on how some stuff and nonsense can be fun, not to judge a book by it's cover, those we love are never really lost, just out of place, and when life seems a little dark and you feel lost to look for the light and "trip a little light fantastic"! Emily Blunt was phenomenal as Mary (No one can be Julie Andrews, but she was fantastic!) and I loved all the other portrayals including the 2 kids, Meryl Streep's character as Cousin Topsy, Angela Lansbury as the balloon lady, Dick Van Dyke playing his son from the '64 version.
