Hard to like this movie. The original was a 90's hack and slash thriller that had you afraid to look in the mirror for too long. This one felt like it was trying to cram in a lot of social issues into a movie that has a simple premise of revenge/justice. Also, I may be mistaken but, the rules/consequences for summoning were not consistent. Is it that if you're in the presence of someone who summons you're a valid target regardless or if you summon but he likes you you're fine? There's no clear rules which implies the killings are totally random which means it doesn't matter what you do. You may or may not die depending on the needs of the plot. More buildup to the reveal of the big bad as well as more character development of people lost (so we actually cared about them) would have given more of a punch when those moments occurred. Okay movie to watch with friends and a beer but falls short of the original in my opinion.
