As a serious student of history and comparative political systems, I was amazed when I received and began to explore BH 365. It is a tremendous accomplishment to have created a single comprehensive volume that covers Black American history from ancient Africa to the events of 2020. This book comprises 1,248 pages of historical narrative, photos and artifacts covering historical events, individuals and achievements as well as the tragedies and suffering that attended the sweep of American history. The interactive feature of BH 365 (through text-embedded QR codes) expands access to a wealth of supporting documents and images on Black history in America, and hence the depth and breadth of this resource as an educational and research tool for students of American history. For students and teachers each chapter identifies and defines key words that aid in understanding the subject and helps expand the reader’s general vocabulary. BH 365 is truly a “one-stop” library and a virtual encyclopedia of Black history. Designed for use in North American schools, this is a must-have resource for anyone, including advanced students, interested in African American history. BH 365 is a library in itself of historical narrative and materials on Black history. This is an invaluable and unparalleled reference that should be in all libraries as well as schools across our country, and will find a place in many homes where American history is studied. BH 365 is factual and not driven by a political agenda. It encourages and instructs students on how to approach history with objectivity, empathy and with respect for various opinions and viewpoints.
