In addition to the many plot holes pointed out by other reviewers, my personal favorite is the practicality of the successive nuclear explosions to propel the craft progressively faster and faster up to 1% the speed of light. This would mean that the final (300th, I think they said) blast is a bit below that final speed. Now, consider that 1% light speed is 6.7 million mph, so the craft is passing the final nuclear explosion at, let's estimate, 6.1 million mph. Are we to believe that at that speed a nuclear explosion could be timed so accurately that it would perfectly coincide with the passing craft just after the sail has passed?
