I am a big fan of DWH and find Nicolle Wallace one of the sharpest, most articulate news anchors I know. So on today’s show, when she and her panel were discussing the perils of the new AI in election politics, I was surprised that she denigrated “people over 70” as they relate to Facebook. Repeatedly asking her colleagues what anyone over 70 would do on FB, she made it clear this age group was diminished, unable to cope with - in this case - the world of AI. I have to confess how disappointed I am in Nicolle’s ageism, not to say offended. As a member of this age group and someone who is fully functioning mentally, physically, and still a productive member of society, AND who uses Facebook and other social media on a daily basis for personal, professional, and social reasons - well…I suggest that Nicolle offer an apology to us on the air. Surely she knows 70-80-year-olds in our society who are vital and still have their s…t together! We have changed the face of what 70 looks and acts like, and I think this deserves to be acknowledged.
