I'm bombarded with youtube ads for some bizarre, nightmarish audio book video based on this book. Sometimes they are AI animation over live action and tune characters drastically change appearance every frame.
They are absolutely absurd, the script sounds like bad AI and the actors spoke like they'd had a concussion. The main character comes off like a school shooter in waiting, he's in love with a psychic girl who horribly assaults him for speaking to her but the ad says she's his girlfriend. The other members of his class chant out insults at him repeatedly. He off handedly mentions how his parents were killed by aliens. He lives in a digital cyberpunk city clearly bought in an asset pack. For some reason a terribly ugly prop book makes him a vampire by summoning a vampire to bite him, giving him a video game HUD and XP system. He is then drafted and also the army is trying to kill him I think.
I looked up the web novel this is based on and it has 600 chapters although other reviews say 2500 plus. The first chapter reads like a 7th grader wrote it. It's obvious the person who wrote this has undiagnosed high level autism, is 14 and thinks that they're making something 'the right way'. Somehow tens of dollars were spent making on a live action adaptation.
10/10, deserves 1 billion dollar adaptation on Amazon.
