Texture
Texture is a quality experienced through touch. Real textures are those that we can touch and feel.
Texture assists in visually describing the detail of an object, and helps us to understand what an object is made from. It can help us to recognise and understand the features of the environment in which an object exists.

Smooth, shiny textures can be associated with surfaces such as metal and glass. They can appear cool, soothing and calm.
Texture can be functional, for example, the smooth handle and rough teeth on a greater.
Texture can be descriptive, for example, the smoothness of eggshells or the roughness of timber.
Soft textures can be associated with surfaces such as flesh or fabric and can appear warm
Rough, spiky or prickly textures can suggest danger or aggression.
