This is based on part I and II only.
The intro and contextualization was great. It's awesome seeing the Order 66 content. I love seeing Ewan McGregor back on the screen. He carried this show. There's a pretty interesting set up for the series.
The writing was awful at its worst. It made me physically cringe multiple times. Terrible execution.
So apparently no fully functioning adult is able to run fast enough to catch a 10 year old Leia. Maybe she'll even catch up to the Flash!
She's intolerable to watch. I get her wanting to disobey her parents and explore the world as a princess locked into the daily routine of duty. But she refuses to listen to Kenobi even though he tells her it's matter of life and death. She's a spoiled brat just like her cousin.
Speaking of, in Part II, why does Kenobi keep walking around with his hood down? Hell, why does he dress like a Jedi? Why doesn't he shut Leia up when she keeps talking LOUDLY about Jedi and proclaiming he doesn't seem like one? Why does he keep flashing his lightsaber in the open where everyone can see it?
Reva is not well written. She fell flat. I wasn't intimated by her nor did I ever think she put Kenobi, Owen, nor Leia in any real danger (since they're all in Episode 4 lol).
How does Reva know Anakin is Vader? Why does she even want power? Instead of being a sympathetic or admirable villain, she's just annoying. Why doesn't the Grand Inquisitor give her punishments for acting out of line? Why did he walk in to face her and Kenobi alone? Awfully convenient.
It's great seeing Kenobi back on the screen, but I had much higher hopes for how this would go. As was the problem with Luke in TLJ, why did this mighty hero of the Republic become so jaded? Kenobi was obviously planning on training Luke. So why wasn't he prepared/trained to go on a rescue mission for Leia?
The visuals and score are great; but Disney has loads of money. That part is easy.
The writers at Disney have no idea how to write in a logical manner. Every Star Wars and Marvel show suffers the same issues. Cool visuals. Nostalgia. But not a single damn ounce of sense.
Do better Disney.
