First, I'd like to address the one-star reviews criticizing the film for spreading violence or a negative message. That's not the right way to judge a movie—it simply might not align with your personal taste.
I, too, was drawn to this film after hearing all the hype, but I found it completely disappointing. Before watching it, I saw numerous YouTube videos, mostly reviews that blindly praised the film. Almost every Hindi reviewer labeled it a "masterpiece."
One video that stood out was from the channel "Soch by Mohak," titled "Why You Should Watch Malayalam Cinema." The thumbnail compared "Avesham" with a green check mark and "Animal" with a red cross. After watching Avesham, I felt so frustrated that I almost wanted to punch Mohak. In my opinion, "Animal" was far more entertaining in every way.
Yes, the songs were great, and the action scenes and performances were solid. However, the plot was deeply disappointing, going absolutely nowhere.
The film spends a lot of time building up in the first half, and even when Fahadh Faasil (Fafa) enters, there's no meaningful progress. Many people who liked the movie praised its comedy, but I barely laughed. The only scene that stood out for me was the Antakshari bit, and even that wasn't hilarious.
From the start, you're expecting a surprising moment, goosebumps, or a twist—something—but nothing ever happens. After the climax, you're left wondering, "What was that? What was the point of this film? What were they trying to say? Was it an action movie? A drama?" It’s frustrating and leaves you with shattered expectations.
You could call it an average film, but labeling it a "masterpiece" is an insult to the word.
