I'm sitting through this movie for the 3rd time because I adore it. Each time I watch it, I get older and I've learned something new about this country and this world we live in. The racism and colorism of the past are far deeper than what's discussed in schools TODAY, let alone what goes on today. This movie offers a glimpse into what life was like racially back then. I'm black and gay, and I look at everything racially because of how the world treats me. I couldn't imagine the country, let alone the world my parents, grandparents and ancestors survived. Taraji P Henson blew this performance out of the water, and the entire cast was truly outstanding. I see myself watching this a 4th, 5th time, etc.

I ADORE this show. I'm not even halfway through season 3 yet and I came here to write this review. As a young gay black man that doesn't nearly have this type of relationship with his parents, this show helps me envision a life where my parents fully accepted me for who I am. Even though Bernard's role in the show is minimal, he plays a vital role in the function of the family. Other than that, the cursing in this show makes it RELATABLE and even more funny than it already is. Also, I LOVE Regina and Benny's relationship, along with the role Lucretia plays in it. Lucretia is apart of their relationship because of their business dealings at the garage, and although she oversteps at time because Benny isn't a blood relative, she is very supportive of them and never comes in between them. Regina and Benny come together after every fight because of their LOVE and acceptance for one another, and that's something you don't see in many couples today. I can't wait to rewatch this show from season 1 and I hope it gets many more seasons! Thank you netflix!

I originally watched this show as background noise, but I remember subtly enjoying it and laughing at parts. But I got a notification that season 2 is coming next week, so I rewatched it and paid close attention. Not only does the show make you laugh out loud at certain portions, but the characters are endearing and you end up loving, and intensely questioning their actions. The storyline has so many moving parts that bring up important discussions about race, politics and sexuality. As a queer person of color, I remember relating to specific scenes and interactions. The acting is very good. This show reminds me of Degrassi, and I was a huge fan of that show. Every single episode leaves you on multiple cliff hangers. You just have to find out what happens to these people, and it's never what you think it is. I'm looking forward to season 2, and I hope there will be seasons 3 and 4.

Sometimes Netflix makes hidden gems, other times it makes media that makes me feel like I've wasted my time watching. This movie was sadly the laddar. The reason(s) behind the two MAIN concepts in the movie are NEVER explained, and it honestly made me angry. The concepts are obviously why whatever thing is killing everyone, and what the place of sanctuary actually signifies. I just found out this movie was based off a book, and I don't want to read the book at all. Sometimes just to waste time, I'll watch old movies over again that weren't that great, but I never want to see this movie again. The fact that a handful of explanations can be assumed about whatever the movie mean is too ambiguous for my liking. Nice try.

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt this movie deserved a good one. It starts off a little slow, but as soon as you notice something is seriously wrong, the storyline sucks you in and has you hanging on the edge of your seat. Honestly, this movie messed with my anxiety a bit. It almost made me cry, but the ending was a little more cynical than I'd hoped. This movie really reminded me of the "arkangle" episode of black mirror, and it makes me miss that show a lot. But anyway, this was a pretty good movie.

Just watched this for the first time and honestly it was one of my favorite madea movies. I think the storyline encouraged discussions about race and love and many people can find themselves in the character's shoes. Madea was over the top, as she usually is (which we're used to by now), but I found Madea to be a mediator helping bridge people together. I love Madea for her effort in every movie to give love and kindness when she has the choice.
