Everyone raving about this series needs to rewatch the 1999 film which is superior in every way. I enjoyed the take on the story but the film just offered so much more. While the 1999 cast was perfection, I’m finding Frankie’s casting so misjudged. Though I suppose casting against everything Philip Seymour Hoffman was in that role makes sense given they could never match his genius. Also, Cate Blanchett’s character added so much to the narrative and the edge of seat drama of Ripley being found out - to lose it here, with so much more time to develop that, seems negligent.
