Like all series, some episodes are better than others. Season 1 provided a feel of realism with good character development plus excellent performances, good editing and production. But after watching all of season 2, I believe "The Bear' is possibly the best series I've seen on TV. It is different and more compelling than other series. For example, in season 2 there is an episode of a family Christmas dinner that is somewhat unpleasant to watch but necessary to help the audience better understand the characters.
The series clearly displays the main characters' flaws but also their spirits of grit and determination. It demonstrates how individuals can be influenced by their past and most of all, by their their fear of failure. However, by the end of season 2, there is hope for some characters that new experiences and hard work will help them reduce or end self-defeating and self-limiting behaviors and obtain better life outcomes. Unfortunately, this may not happen for the main character, Carmy, who was about to make a big mistake at the end of season 2. Can't wait for season 3!
Special appreciation should be given to the writers of this series. This show is a prime example of why we need real, human writers with insight and knowledge of the human condition.
