Having read the best nonfiction book I’ve ever read in I Am Pilgrim I couldn’t wait for this book. I waited years for its release and was so excited when it finally was. The first two thirds were gripping and lived up to if not beyond expectation, but then huge disappointment set in as the sudden twist that takes place completely ruined the book. It was almost as though a second author from a completely different genre was handed the book to finish. I’m not a sci-fi fan so when this book takes this unexpected twist the disappointment to the highest level set in and I felt like I had wasted my time reading the first two thirds and let down that the conclusion could not satisfy my curiosity that had built throughout the book. I thought it was perhaps just me until I read the majority of the reviews to realise I’m not in the minority and my thoughts had been confirmed by so many similar reviews. I almost feel sorry for the author that having read one and two thirds of such gripping story lines he could not see this one through. I will give him one more chance if he did decide to right another book as hopefully he will realise his mistake with this one and return to well constructed spy novel scripts and see it through to an in keeping conclusion that will satisfy our expectations.
