I really wanted to like this game as I was pretty fond (minus the bugs) of the previous game in this franchise. Sadly this game was a major letdown. Here are some reasons why.
Redundant gameplay. After the first hour, you really get into a situation where everything just feels the same. Neighbors need help? Time to venture across the map to help them. Looting houses around neighborhoods? Often the same loot each time with no real diversity. Even the undead felt a lot like the same each time.
Bugs. Granted, they've ironed this out quite a bit as I did revisit this title a bit months after release, but some of the same bugs present in the first game also were present in the second game. Rather frustrating.
Now not everything is all bad, as it did offer some pretty good tweaks to things like base building, graphics and performance. Unfortunately it fell way short of the expectations from the community and truthfully, there was so much untapped potential that just wasn't utilized. What a shame!
Truthfully, I still find myself playing the original one as its more fun. Sure this one isn't bad either, but some of the things that make the first game really special just doesn't exist in the second one. I can really say the second one seems to have lost a lot of its individual feel that really made the series special.
