For fans of the genre, The Silence has all the elements you expect: menagerie, foreboding, panic, preparedness, entropy, human desperation and depravity, survivalism, and hope. Cinematography, pacing, editing, CGI, cast, and acting all support the film in a way that I as the audience felt connected to the characters throughout the plot. It won't win any awards but it doesn't matter: it has everything you need to thoroughly enjoy the runtime, and it thankfully shies away from plot excesses that frequently sully end-of-the-world films.
