The series follows the fictional life of an orphaned girl Elizabeth Harmon who becomes interested in chess from a lowly custodian that works in her all girls school orphanage. He teaches her important basics and strategies that pollinates her mental acuity. Later she would compete in the world environment of chess. She astounds the world as a child prodigy, all the while dealing with drug addiction that follows her into adulthood. Taking place in 50's and 60's this series provides an insight into what a female chess champions life would be compared to the rather mundane family responsibilities expected of women in that era. Frequent clashes between the two classes is especially entertaining. The child and adult character of Elizabeth are beautifully done, and casting spot-on in these important leads. The many layers of the adult character played by award winning actress Anya Taylor-Joy imply there is more going on below the surface. As said in an interview regarding her character "the worse enemy in life can be ourselves". Her three dimensional acting makes a rather interesting portrayal of the complexities inherent in her emotions at almost any given time. Frankly, her facial expressions are worth the price of admission alone.

Innovative world of worldly creatures called pucks, pix and other interesting fae. An imaginative, creative environment allows writers a palette to explore racism, abuse, exploitation without having to succumb to traditional storylines and characters.

How can anyone watch this show? There is a joke every 30 seconds which means it's scripted. Not even a stand up comic could create that much humor off the cuff. Fakest "reality" show.

A complete retooling of how superheroes are portrayed. The series peels back the dark underbelly of a corporate controlled superhero business. What happens when super strength and untethered ego slip into the corporate culture of powerful individuals. The series has metaphors parallel to many recent abuses in hollywood and politics. A complete joy to watch.

A long borefest that is pulled along with food labels, billboards, household products and over cooked backdrop all to say "look" at the detail went thru to show you its late 1960s. An hour of could have been cut from this movie and you would not have missed anything. A few entertaining scenes, but sadly the script is missing the clever dialog we come to expect from a Tarentino movie. No doubt his worst movie to date. Those who enjoy watching paint dry or refuse to critique this director will undoubtably disagree.
