Have watched this movie way back during my college days, about 4-5 years ago. D-Day is one of the finest Spy movie of Indian cinema, it can be ranked closer to movies like Madras Cafe. The portrayal of life of the spies, the balls in the mouth moments, means used to pass on information on both sides seems so genuine. The dilemma of choosing between the duty and family, depicted nicely. The movie does portray them as some super humans, just vulnerable humans who believe in some idea of lending service to respective nations. And this all add to realism and enhances quality of cinema. We as audience fails to do justice with some artform, and there are many such movies, this movie also fell victim to that disregard.
Nikhil Advani always make cinema to whom i can relate very easily. Might be because of some parallel in beliefs and a search for the meaning of struggle. One thing is sure he makes movies with a personal touch and might be that's the reason why those who feel relatively understands his cinema better.
Critics many a times curbs growth of a movie which doesn't justify the true appreciation that the piece deserves.
Sorry for writing it little lately.
