Never watch a movie based on an incredible book. This movie took deliberate turns away from the book at every available opportunity. The selflessness and tenderness, the absolute reliance upon each other, Ben's tender devotion to his wife - even with the "mountain" between them, which we (as the reader/viewer) don't fully comprehend... all the elements which set the tone for the story of survival, love, and self-discovery... they're all gone. Disappointed. Love the actors (Idris Elba & Kate Winslet) but the screenplay with which they had to work was terrible... I was looking forward to seeing the adventure & love story come to life... turns out, it was neither love nor adventure done well.
