The book switches between 2 main characters, Evelyn and Charlie, on a chapter by chapter basis, a very interesting method. I found myself enthralled by the Evelyn chapters and bored by the Charlie chapters, which seemed to go into minute detail about Charlie’s thoughts, senses, explanation for her emotions - just too much of it.
The ultimate intertwining stories and connection of the two main characters is quite a stretch. For me, the manner in which Charlie found out about her cousin Rose’s fate was not believable.
It was a decent book and I learned about this heroic and courageous network of people who sacrificed so much in the face of evil to save lives and their country.
