I suppose this film qualifies as a temperance lecture, but it is vivid, unsparing, and audaciously executed. I loved the moments when the characters go silent, the gorgeous music takes over, and we simply look into their eyes and discern everything they are feeling. There may be an English remake, but I hope not.
