I watched this in the THEATRE in 1968 in Ramstein Germany as a pre-teen army brat, with every other war film produced for local consumption. Entertainment through education at the time - war, transfers, art history, conspiracy, restoration and extermination. Five Star acting and sets, dark humour throughout - between Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Zhivago this movie ties the first half of the twentieth century together.
