I encountered several issues with the lenses and film usage throughout the film. I won’t dwell on the initial scene where an absurdly extreme telephoto lens was used to capture a photo of a TV screen, except to say it was ridiculous.
At one point, they show Jesse developing a roll of film, and she shook it for a few seconds before saying, “Now that has to set for ten minutes.” Absolutely not! Did the producer and director have no idea how 35mm cameras, film, and processing actually work, or did they simply not care?
In the finale scenes, it seemed like Jesse had far more than 36 shots on a single roll of film. How is that even possible?
On top of that, the plot was incredibly predictable. I knew in the beginning of the riot scene that the woman with the backpack was a suicide bomber, and within minutes of Lee and Jesse's first encounter I correctly predicted that Jesse would end up photographing Lee’s tragic death at the end. All this within the first few minutes!
I will say it was nice to see Kirsten Dunst in a different role than her usual; too bad the movie wasn't better. Only redeeming factor was her excellent, dramatic acting.
