I'll always know 1 & 2 to be the proper home alones as there the most iconic and the best, although I think this one has an exception. I expected this to be horrible and disappointing, but it was better than I thought.
Firstly, the thing I liked was that this was about some random British kid(Archie Yates from Jojo Rabbit) as opposed to it trying to revive Kevin Mccallister, like they did in Home Alone 4 which was very bad. Second, the "bad guys" were really good guys that were out of money, and they were trying to steal a valuable doll from the protagonist, who supposedly stole it from them. This gave them an interesting and unique background.
The film definitely had its flaws, like the main character was an annoying brat, and that the traps were really quick and lame.
Another thing I'd like to add is that I feel we all extra-hate this one because we have the originals in mind. Another person said this, but if we view this as a stand-alone movie, I think we'll have more accurate reviews.
It's not an awesome must see, but I think it was somewhat entertaining, even if it was cringey at times. Kevin's older brother, Buzz had a couple scenes in this, so that was pretty nice. And yeah, the kid was a jerk, the mom didn't seem thrilled to see her son, but overall it was a quick entertaining movie
