I have seen this movie in 1974 when I first arrived in America. It captivated me and had since been looking for the film. Finally, I found a rare copy of the book, a novel by Mildred Savage upon which this film was based. Last night, my husband and I watched the film in color on Amazon Prime Video. We thoroughly enjoyed it for its substance although kind of soap-operatic, Troy Donahue was sincere in portraying Parrish McLean, and Claudette Colbert as his mother was so relatable. Back in 1974, I was a newly arrived immigrant from the Philippines. While I knew my geography, I did not pay attention to the setting of the film. Watching Parrish last night, was pleasurable as I now live in New England and familiar with Connecticut - the setting of the story - Mystic Harbor, Mystic Seaport Museum, etc. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the nostalgia of the 1950s and 1960s and classic cars!
