Fun game! While it doesn't quite live up to, say, Generations, it's a solid entry overall and more to my palette than World- notably in the art direction, which feels a lot more like "classic" MH- a big plus in my book!
Some thoughts:
+ The wirebugs are fun, and let me relive my MHGen days with a distinctly Aerial-style maneuver for Switch Axe.
+ I may be a cat person, but Palamutes are cute and a great addition to the game. (Sharpening while you ride is a little OP in combat, but I'm not gonna complain.)
+/- The new monsters were all cool and fun to fight! That being said, I'm 50/50 on much of the returning roster. I didn't really want to fight Pukei-Pukei or Anjanath again. Capcom, please give me another game with Gore Magala in it! Also, Yama Tsukami and Amatsumagatsuchi would both fit really well with the setting, IMO.
- Endgame is sparse currently. As with a lot of things, I expect this to improve as the game receives updates, so I'm not holding this deeply against it.
As the game currently stands, I'd probably give it a 3.75/5 (pretty good, by my standards!) I'm going to reevaluate the game in a year's time or so once we've gotten the DLC, to see if it adds considerable meat.
