Sunnie Dunnie

This is a sort of good series which could have been great but the two main characters are ill matched! The young actress selected for the prime part of Daphne is not compatible with the Duke. They memorized the lines well however she looks and is way too young for him and I see no connection between them as a couple truly connected spiritually or emotionally. The other characters seems to do much better within the film all other casting was spot on! I did try to envision the second sister of the Brigertons as the Duke’s love match but they didn’t look right either. I wonder who selected this pair and thought it was magical as it should have been? It is not! As for the remainder of the show it is interesting and I love the colorful cast of characters! It could have been great if it was like this in true life.

Marvelously written and delivered! Great performances by all and I’m absolutely sure August Wilson immensely proud up in heaven. The world will have heard of Ma Rainey with this delivery. And to see the marvelous Chadwick Boswell one more time is like splendor in the grass! His performance is so powerful and profound. The whole cast was so on point! The only problem I had personally with any of the movie is they made Ma out to look like an ugly, old black woman and she WAS NOT SO! She did NOT NEED NOR HAVE TO BE PORTRAYED AS WET AND GREASY WITH TOO MUCH ROUGE! In some scenes, okay, after performing on stage, maybe to a degree, but in each and every scene? Wet/Grease?? She may not have been conventionally pretty, and she was a heavy set lady, but a lady still. Even though there are only a few pictures available of the lady. There is not one single picture of her where she looks wet or greasy! Not in one picture does she look so. And i am sure our beautiful Ms. Viola Davis did not elect to be wet and greasy looking all the time to show a true portrayal of Ma Rainey!? So, whoever made this decision, made the only bad decision with the entire production. It didn’t have to be every scene to make her look so. It is almost satirical in retrospect. Otherwise, the entire movie is fabulous and worth the viewing and money! Bless!

So happy for this forum to provide my view. Acting, talent superb! The main players did their jobs very well! The dance scene towards the end was beautifully performed. The story line or lack there of was off. Way off. The ending is none existent. Nothing to tie everything together. Audience is left simply wondering about various aspects of everything. Personally found it to be not a satisfying experience and a movie should hold some satisfaction upon its end. This film continuation is a random run of film with many moving parts going nowhere. There are interesting elements that could have been explored however, none of them are ever explored and I watched the entire 2 hours, wasted time waiting for something? Anything! However Toni Collette, and the two Jessie, Jesse, and the gentleman who played Collette’s husband, were all wonderful in their character portrayals. Film running sucked though. I can’t call or label it as a movie because it wasn’t in traditional or non traditional sense.

The show is good, especially since I saw a docu recently about Huntsville and the history of the town/city, it has come a long way since the days of african american suppression. I will say, Melody brings much drama with her holier than thou attitude! She can't forgive her husband or stop throwing shade at him even though he is trying, she doesn't seem to be. Or, at least the camera's don't show that she does. Saying that Holt & Holt are better than the other two couples is JACKED UP! The long blonde wig.... honey, please take it off... Finally, she need to get it together with her man, too many other women will jump all over him and make him happy if she doesn't want to compromise and work things out. pray girl and stop being so righteous! At least you can feel the love between the other two couples!
