So I've been a FNAF fan ever since the first game came out in 2014. I know all about the lore, I know every animatronic, I know almost everything about the franchise (Games 1-6)
Before I get into bashing the movie I want to talk about the few things I liked. Obviously seeing Cory Kenshin and Mat Pat was pretty cool, and I think Mike was a cool character.
Alright, time to get into what was wrong. So first of all, the lore in the movie is completely inaccurate from the games. Who is Abby and why is she here? Mike's sister is supposed to be Elizabeth, and last I checked, I'm pretty sure she's dead. And who is Garret? Apparently that's Mike's brother that got kidnapped and died from an unknown person. But in the games, Mike's brother is Evan. And he got killed by Mike when he threw Evan into Fredbears mouth. And the person that killed Garret in the movie was William Afton. VANESSA'S FATHER. Vanessa? Why is she in this move? I'm sure every fnaf fan DIDN'T want a security breach character in this movie. So William Afton isn't even Mike's father in this movie? WoW tHaT's AwEsOMe!! A little more about William is that he can apparently control the animatronics which is weird because he could never do that in the games. Also this movie takes place in 2000 but I'm pretty sure FNAF 1 took place in the early 90s correct me if I'm wrong though.
Second of all, there is pretty much no horror in this movie besides a little bit in the beginning and the end. Like bro I know the animatronics are possessed by kids but why are they so childish? Like I thought I was getting a balls on the walls horror movie, not this. Mike pretty much never looks at the cameras and tries to keep the animatronics away from him which is stupid because they should've done some sort of throwback to the first game.
The plot is also all over the place too. First it focuses on Mike trying to get a job, then it's his random Aunt that tries to separate him and Abby. Then it's about Abby making friends with the animatronics, like dude pick a plot and stick with it.
And William Afton is the one who gives Mike the security guard job and that's the only time we see him until he randomly shows up at the end of the movie in the Spring Bonnie suit. And Phone Guy isn't in the movie which is sad. :(
Some scenes we dumb too. Almost all the kills were skipped or shown in a shadow or something which I get because it's PG-13 but it was originally going to be rated R so I'm gonna complain about it. I was also disappointed in the Spring lock scene. It was very underwhelming and it wasn't as good as I would've hoped it to be.
I can tell that this isn't how Scott wanted the movie to play out. I'm sad to say that I'm giving this movie 1/5 stars.
