The Stand was always my favorite Stephen King novel so I was really excited by a remake. The first few episodes have a continuity issue which can be fixed by binge watching. By the fourth episode it all meshes together and really becomes a good series and adaptation of the novel. Casting is outstanding, Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abigail is perfect and Alexander Skarsgard as Randall Flagg gives us a charismatic bad guy you love to watch on screen. The real surprises are how good Greg Kinnear, James Marsden and Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen are. I find it hard to be sympathetic to Owen Teague or Amber Heard’s performances, where in the novel I was. All in all it’s worth subscribing to CBS All Access for. I imagine the bad reviews are from the first few episodes continuity issues, it seems a shame that you would rate a series based on one or two episodes out of ten.
