One small question - how to prioritise? A population of nearly 70 million on these islands means - either we exploit "our" land or we import food to make other nations exploit theirs - plus the fuel to bring us the food. It is an ecology which includes humans, which means choices and that is where it gets difficult. What population would the UK be able to sustain without "artificial" chemicals? And if you can decide (I reckon about 25 - 30 million) what happens to the others?
I hate being a spoil-sport Jon Snow, but there is a real competition for the earths resources - who gets to chose, who wins?
It really is a little more complicated than you piece suggested
