Not a good experience. I get enough of the horrors of human beings already. I don't know exactly who the "good" people are in this movie. Anyone who wasn't abusing the poor sweet thing was ultimately indifferent or powerless. The little guy kept encountering one bad situation after another and seemed to be the only one with the good sense to take off, giving rise to a modicum of hope for him. And the end.... just NO. I hated it.
