Regarding the difficult mother with the special needs child (tracheotomy) and the father who has not been visiting her... Lea & Miguel.
They were both wrong but Dr. Phil, you are way wrong about social workers. Dr. Phil projects that every social worker is an unsung hero but I can say from experience that they are absolutely not all good people. Some of them are horrid shells of what they could've been, who are on major power trips. My brother, who was active duty Air Force, had an ex wife who hooked up with a meth dealer, got hooked, and began physically abusing my nephews, "Mommie Dearest" style, while he was deployed to the middle east. The first social worker we were unfortunate enough to have was 100% on the meth head's side, even though my brother was able to come home early because of the nightmare his kids were suffering. That social worker made his and our family's entire life hell. If he and the ex wife both hadn't happened to have moved to a different county, those kids would have remained stuck living in halfway houses with their abusive drug addict mother because that social worker believed the cranked-out ex-wife's lies. The social worker who had our case until the county change was infamous with the new workers, so much so that they apologized to my brother, telling us that they would have had those kids with him, in his 3 bedroom house while she got herself better. There ARE horrible social workers out there, Dr. Phil! It wasn't just an excuse by a dumb young mother.
