Brent Cory Waterman

This is one of my all time favorite anime. I grew up mostly watching Dragon Ball Z, Princess Mononoka, Gundam Wing, Full Metal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic! and read others within the same genre. Shuffle! was the second anime, behind Please Teacher(Onegai Teacher), that had gotten me into watching more romantic shows. I fell in love almost instantly with the show and couldn't help but burn through the DVD's I rented. While I understand that the harem style has become a bit of a trope of overly unobservant males being surrounded by woman who all love them and not being able to decide, I felt this was a bit more then just that. The main character is much more aware and while taking the time to understand his feelings, he also takes the time to truly get to know each person beyond their front facing feelings of love. One of my favorite moments of this anime is also the unforeseen moment of realization about who he truly loves. Everything clashing in such chaos and uncertainty is what made me understand his choices even more. Knowing that so many woman were in love with him on such a deep level yet he chose the one who he truly wanted to be with. Doing everything in his power to not hurt those around him yet making his choice known.
