Grew up during the Troubles, child of a non-political family caught - like most people - in the middle of it all. This is by far the best, most authentic and accurate programme I have ever seen on our conflict.
If you want to know what it was like - watch this. The genius of getting individuals to talk about their own experiences, without any comeback, without any counter or argument or even questioning from another POV is inspired.
What you end up with is two people giving a very personal account of the same time period but often from completely different perspectives.
They're all brutally honest about why they planted bombs, or why they joined paramilitaries, or the army or police, about how much much they hated or feared, about how it felt to have parents murdered, how it felt to go to prison.
It's brilliant. And so refreshing to not be hearing from politicians or authority figures arguing and distorting the narrative for their own purposes.
