I always loved the first film, the character that the creators gave to spirit. It was a story told through the eyes of a wild stallion.
Well throw all of that out of the window!
It's a story about a disobedient girl, who doesn't listen to grandpa, aunt and father, who "without any horse experience can be the only one who can tame a wild horse". The horse is missing spirit.
The voice actors are great, no flaws there.
The story is the opposite of why people fell in love first the first movie. A blend of stunning fitting music, matt damon as the voice of the horse, a story of a bond being created through hardship and survival and still a feel of realism.
No way horses will jump of a boat in the ocean, no way fireflies (like brave) will lead a young girl to horses etc. Leave out the magical and leave in some horse knowledge and animal movement study. Because unless you don't care, I was very disappointed in the way the horses move (like horses out of a barbie movie)...
